Electrical Project Manager/Estimator – Central Florida Branch
G Technology is a full service Electrical Contracting company that provides electrical and control services to commercial, industrial and institutional clients.
We are currently looking for a Project Manager with commercial electrical field experience to join our team.
Base Salary: $90,000 – $120,000
Skills & Qualifications
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years field experience in the capacity of a Journeyperson or Foreperson.
- Has good moral standards, such as honesty, loyalty, and dependability.
- Ability to run a small crew efficiently and deliver quality work.
- Ability and willingness to train others.
- Possesses good communication skills, verbal and written
- Knowledge of current NFPA70 code.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and can pass a random background/drug test.
Job Responsibilities:
- The Project Division is responsible for managing large and small projects. The objective is to properly plan, prep, and pave the way for the project crews to be successful.
- The following are the duties associated with Project Management Operations:
- Oversee project progress and ensure timely, high-quality completion.
- Coordinate manpower assignments based on priority, skill set, and availability.
- Maintain an organized workflow.
- Monitor job progress and resolve any issues that arise in the field.
- Work with project lead for tools, equipment, specialty material, scheduling requirements, skillset per project.
- Work with project lead to prepare a 3-Week Look Ahead.
- Assist in establishing and implementing processes where required.
- Provide prints, specifications, cut sheets, etc. to Project Lead as required.
- Attend turnover meetings as required.
- Ensure crews conduct JSA/Toolbox Talk as required, have any required PPE and work safely.
- Ensure quality and scope completion on each jobsite.
The following are the responsibilities associated with Project Financials:
- Monitor project financials, including job costs, labor, materials, and tools/equipment.
- Ensure crews are entering time, notes, inventory, equipment into Jarvis daily.
- Review project financials throughout project and prior to submitting for billing.
- Approve AIA invoices and ensure proper documentation of completed work.
- Track and analyze key performance metrics to drive efficiency.
- The following are the duties associated with Technical Oversight & Safety Compliance:
- Provide guidance on troubleshooting and complex electrical issues.
- Ensure compliance with all NEC, OSHA, and local electrical codes.
- Keep up with industry advancements and implement best practices.
- Visit the jobsite to ensure they are executing effectively. Provide feedback in real time if corrective action is needed. Give commendation where warranted.
The following are the duties associated with Quality Control:
- Make a QC Schedule to visit job sites regularly. Weekly if possible.
- Understand the skillset of your crews. Identify teaching moments and take advantage of them in real time.
- Motivate crews to actively work on their Proficiency Task Programs and keep records of progress. · Send photos of quality work to [email protected] and document.
- Work with your project crews when needed to show support and ensure quality.
The following are the duties associated with Team Member Coaching:
- Take advantage of opportunities to teach techniques and tricks to perfect their craft.
- Correct quality issues and poor workmanship in real time. Hold team members accountable.
- When assigned a new hire, understand their roles and responsibilities and coach them where needed.
- Show your crews you appreciate them. Build a relationship with them to gain their trust.
- Utilize your company appreciation budget to increase productivity with your crews.
- Work with crews when needed to show support and build trust.
- Establish checkpoint meetings with new hires to discuss progress and transition to their position.
The following are the duties associated with Customer Relations & Business Development:
- Maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business.
- Address customer concerns and provide professional solutions.
- Identify and communicate potential opportunities for expanding G Technology’s offerings.
The following are the duties associated with Estimating & Change Orders:
- Work up change orders as required.
- Attend site visits as needed to see project scope.
- Follow up with customer for updates on approvals/denials.
- Update Estimation Tracking Sheet.
- Learn ConEst Estimating Software.
The following are the duties associated with Project Scheduling:
- Identify project deadlines and manpower needs per project.
- Allocate manpower fairly based on project needs, skillset availability and deadlines.
- Update Job Schedule in Jarvis weekly.
- Communicate with technicians consistently to reiterate any schedule changes or variations.
- Prepare weekly schedule for each Manpower Meeting.
Estimating Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates for construction projects.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment required for large-scale electrical construction projects (1M-5M).
- Collaborate with project managers to review project scopes and identify potential risks or challenges.
- Utilize Bluebeam software to create takeoffs and manage project documentation effectively.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor ongoing projects to control costs and adjust estimates as necessary throughout the construction process.
- Maintain organized records of all estimates, proposals, and correspondence related to projects.
Skills
- Minimum of 5 years field experience in the capacity of a Journeyperson or Foreperson.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam and other estimating software tools.
- Strong understanding of construction management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) as it pertains to electrical estimating.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost estimation.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

Registered apprenticeship programs are the first step in creating a foundation for a successful career path. In addition to classroom learning and hands on training, students will also gain on-the-job training by working alongside qualified electricians. This comprehensive four year training module allows apprentices to successfully complete the State required 240 hours of classroom training, as well as 8,000 hours of on-the-job training in order to receive their Journeyman Certificate.
