Skills & Qualifications
- Review and evaluate project plans and specifications, bid documents, and other relevant documents to identify what is needed to create a bid proposal. Identifies any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the bid documents.
- Conducts field surveys and attends pre-bid meetings/job site walk-throughs.
- Requests material and equipment quotes from vendors and equipment suppliers. Reviews quotes to confirm adherence to quote specifications and accuracy of quotes received.
- Prepares bid documents including specific scope letter for each project and evaluations with adjustments for buy-outs, labor rate, productivity, etc.
- Knowledge of current NEC code.
- Proficient with Estimating Software, take off and labor summaries, etc.; ConEst Software a plus.
- Project planning, Design build work.
- Production rate tracking and reporting.
- Consults with clients, vendors and personnel in other departments for planning, scheduling and budgets.
- Attends and provides weekly estimating updates at our operational meetings.
- Confers with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Develop working relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors in order to solicit accurate and current pricing of lighting, distribution equipment, low voltage systems, and miscellaneous material pricing.
- Cultivate and maintain working relationships with General Contractors and contribute to acquiring new customers.
- Analyze projects for value engineering options while taking into account specific job conditions that may affect labor and material to be purchased and installed.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience as a commercial electrical estimator.
- Minimum 2 years prior field experience.

Registered apprenticeship programs are the first step in creating a foundation for a successful career path. In addition to classroom learning and hands on training, students will also gain on-the-job training by working alongside qualified electricians. This comprehensive four year training module allows apprentices to successfully complete the State required 240 hours of classroom training, as well as 8,000 hours of on-the-job training in order to receive their Journeyman Certificate.
