Electrical Estimating Manager – Lehigh Valley Branch

Job Description

G Technology is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimating Manager to lead and strengthen our electrical estimating department while remaining actively involved in estimating projects.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands electrical construction, knows how to build accurate and competitive estimates, and can establish the processes, accountability, and discipline necessary to operate a high-performing estimating department.

The ideal candidate has extensive electrical estimating experience and is equally comfortable reviewing opportunities, performing takeoffs, developing estimates, reviewing other estimators’ work, analyzing risk, and working with operations to successfully transition awarded projects from estimating into execution.

Project management experience is strongly preferred.

Salary: $105,000 – $135,000

Estimating Department Leadership

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the electrical estimating department.
• Manage estimating workload, priorities, bid schedules, deadlines, and assignments.
• Establish and maintain estimating standards, procedures, templates, and best practices.
• Review estimates prepared by other estimators for accuracy, completeness, scope coverage, pricing, labor assumptions, and risk.
• Maintain accountability for estimating productivity, accuracy, and results.
• Track estimating KPIs including bid volume, bid value, hit rate, backlog opportunities, gross margin, and estimate-versus-actual performance.
• Conduct regular bid reviews and provide recommendations regarding which opportunities the Company should pursue.
• Develop and mentor estimating personnel.

Hands-On Electrical Estimating

This is not strictly a management position. The Electrical Estimating Manager will be expected to personally estimate projects and assist with estimating workload as required.

Responsibilities include:

• Review plans, specifications, addenda, contracts, and bid documents.
• Perform detailed electrical takeoffs.
• Develop labor and material estimates.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, allowances, and potential project risks.
• Develop competitive pricing while protecting required Company margins.
• Prepare conceptual, budgetary, design-build, negotiated, and hard-bid estimates.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits.
• Prepare bid proposals and scope letters.
• Assist with value engineering and alternate solutions.
• Participate in final bid reviews with Company leadership.

Preconstruction & Project Turnover

• Coordinate with project management and operations prior to finalizing major estimates.
• Conduct formal turnover meetings for awarded projects.
• Clearly communicate estimated labor, material, subcontractor scope, equipment, assumptions, exclusions, and project risks.
• Ensure project budgets and cost codes accurately reflect the awarded estimate.
• Assist operations with buyout and procurement strategy when appropriate.
• Review estimate-versus-actual project performance and use lessons learned to continuously improve estimating accuracy.

Business Development Support

• Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, construction managers, engineers, vendors, and customers.
• Identify potential bidding opportunities and strategic customers.
• Assist leadership in evaluating markets, customers, project types, and opportunities.
• Participate in scope reviews, customer meetings, negotiations, and project interviews when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Significant electrical construction estimating experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and/or industrial electrical construction.
• Ability to independently estimate electrical projects from beginning to completion.
• Strong understanding of electrical materials, labor productivity, installation methods, and construction sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-lines, schedules, and contract documents.
• Experience obtaining and analyzing vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Strong understanding of project costs, gross profit, margins, overhead, and construction risk.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and accountability for work product.

Preferred:

• Previous experience managing or supervising an electrical estimating department.
• Electrical project management experience.
• Experience managing projects from award through closeout.
• Experience with commercial, industrial, service, controls, or specialty electrical projects.
• Experience developing estimating procedures and departmental KPIs.
• Experience with estimating and construction management software.
• Experience with design-build and negotiated electrical construction.

We want someone who understands the complete relationship between estimating, project execution, profitability, and customer relationships.

The right person understands that winning a project is only successful when the project was properly scoped, properly priced, successfully transitioned to operations, and ultimately completed profitably.

This individual should be capable of taking ownership of the estimating function, developing the people and processes within the department, and personally stepping into estimates when necessary.

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Service Technician with NICET Level III certification to support inspection, troubleshooting, service, and commissioning of fire alarm systems. This role is critical to maintaining life safety compliance and delivering high-quality service to our clients.

Hourly Wage: $30-$35/hour

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 standards
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, including panels, devices, and communication paths
• Program, commission, and service fire alarm systems (new and existing installations)
• Interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics
• Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, and deficiency lists
• Interface directly with clients, inspectors, and AHJs to ensure compliance and successful inspections
